Did You Know Death is Worthy of Celebrating?

January 15, 2016 · In: Study the Bible

According to Romans 6:2, all of those who are in Christ Jesus are dead to sin. In other words, sin is no longer our master, nor are we under the wrath, judgment, and condemnation of God! Can we praise God and celebrate our death!

Spiritual Death is Worthy of Celebrating

As I read Romans 6:1-11, I notice the words die, death, died, and dead. They appear eighteen times in eleven verses. I could not help myself; I had to count them! As students of Inductive Bible Study, we know when a writer repeats a word in Scripture, he is trying to grab our attention. He has something important to communicate and does not want us to miss it. Romans 6 is a message worthy of celebrating. Did you know death is worthy of celebrating? Did you ever think about it? I know this is not the usual reaction to a death. However, in this case, it is!

The Flesh Must Die

Death is never a pleasant thing. People die every single day. We see it all of the time because death is the result of a fallen man. Genesis 2:15-17, Genesis 3:1-19. When someone dies, there often occurs sadness, mourning, and grieving. These emotions are what make us human, and they are real. If someone does not show any or at least some of these emotions when someone dies, we think something is wrong with them.

Jesus teaches in John 12:24, “unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. “

For anyone to commune with God, the flesh, the carnal part of us must die. According to Romans 6:1-11, the born again believers are united with Christ in His death. We died to sin and its eternal effects. We are alive in Him, no longer spiritually dead. Nor will we stay in the grave forever!

Through Christ Our Sin is Done Away With

Because of Christ, our body of sin is done away with. It is dead. Christ took our death and buried it with His death. Christ rose from the dead, and with His resurrection, believers are resurrected unto a new life. All things are new; the old is gone and buried in the grave no longer to be resurrected unto life!

That means that the work of Christ on our behalf is accomplished, finished. We shall never die again but live forever.

 Today is a joyous day!

In this passage of Scripture, death is a good thing! Something for the believer to joy in!

|You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness, That my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD God, I will give thanks to you forever.| Psalm 30:11-12

|For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection.| Romans 6:5

Let’s live in the victory that is ours through Jesus Christ! Know, understand, and act like those who are free in Christ Jesus. You are dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Celebrate your death! Celebrate the death that has occurred in your friends and family through Jesus Christ.

This is such a hard concept to accept in ourselves. I’m lost a lot of wonderful friends this last year but in Christ I know I will see them again. That is the comfort that helps mw say goodby. Thanks for sharing this valuable subject.

    Reblogged this on and commented:
    •There will be no grieving.
    •There will be no mourning.
    •There will be no sorrow.
There will always be Sorrow, Mourning and Grieving But there is JOY that follows Death. There needs to be Celebration of the person’s life here on earth. I Celebrate Bobby’s Life and TRY NOT TO DWELL ON HIS DEATH. Perfect timing. I commented on this in another post today.

Fantastic post, Lisa. We don’t talk much about dying with Christ. We read it in Scripture and then move on, but it is through this death that we have freedom and life. Oh, His amazing grace and love overwhelm me.
