| Therefore thus I will do to you, O Israel; Because I will do this to you, Prepare to meet your God.| Amos 4:12
Are we preparing to meet our God? Do we think God is satisfied with us? America is prosperous. It is ranked as one of the richest countries in the world according to “The Business Insider. We can have what we want when we want it. But does this make a country right with God? At the time of the writing of the book of Amos, the national of Israel was living in prosperity and were politically secure. She was at peace. Or so it seemed! Until a shepherd from Tekoa came with the word of the LORD.

|The LORD roars from Zion and from Jerusalem He utters His voice, and the shepherds’ pasture grounds mourn, and the summit of Carmel dries up.| Amos 1:2
Wake Up and Prepare to Meet Your God!
Prosperity does not make a people or a nation right with God. I think we forget that when we have security, political or financial it is from the hand of God. Yet, we think that all that surrounds us comes from our own hands! We get to a place that we no longer believe we need God.We can get so caught up in everyday activities, doing things our own way we forget that God even exists. I am reminded of this story between a scientist and God,
“God is sitting in Heaven when a scientist says to Him, ‘Lord, we don’t need you anymore. Science has finally figured out a way to create life out of nothing. In other words, we can now do what you did in the “beginning.”‘
‘Oh, is that so? Tell me …’ replies God.
‘Well’, says the scientist, ‘we can take dirt and form it into the likeness of you and breathe life into it, thus creating man.’
‘Well, that’s interesting. Show me.’
So the scientist bends down to the earth and starts to mold the soil.
‘Oh no, no, no …’ interrupts God, ‘Get your own dirt.’
This message from Amos is a wake-up call to the nation of Israel. However beloved, it is also a wake-up call for you and me. Everything we have is from the hands of Almighty God! God is calling a nation back to Him. According to this book, God will tear down our walls, send famine and destruction as a warning for us.
Wake up and prepare to meet your God!
Seek Me that You May Live!
According to Amos 5:4-6, the people were going into other countries to worship. They neglected the statutes and commands of worship designed by God. There is a wrong way to worship God! We may think that we are worshipping the One true God when in reality we are worshipping a block of wood, a false idol that cannot see, speak or hear. A god fashioned by our own hands.
God is calling His people to seek Him and live. There is a day marked out by the Lord. He will return to judge the living and the dead. Are you prepared to meet your God? Whether we are living with God or not He is coming. For those who are prepared it will be a glorious day but for those who are not, it will be a day of darkness and gloom. Are you preparing to meet your God?
Seek God through His word and prayer! When you seek for Him with all your heart He will be found! Jeremiah 29:13!

The idea that God judges his people is particularly missing from Christian teaching today. We see in Amos that God judges nations also. Jesus himself said that Tyre and Sidon were going to do better in the judgment than Capernum. That Queen Sheba was going to do better in the judgment than the leaders of Israel. Our actions as nations matter in this world. Leaders will be held accountable for their decisions.

Amen, Lindam! So many people believe love will win in the end! Love does win for those who are in Christ Jesus! How desperately the church needs to get back into the word of God! Yes! God has and will judge the nations! We need to be in prayer for our leaders because they are held accountable!
