Are you ever surprised at the trials and sufferings you encounter in your life or the lives of those around you? After all as a believer in Jesus Christ shouldn’t it be easier? In the book of 1 Peter, Peter addresses believers as aliens and strangers in a world not their home. In 1 Peter 4 verses 12-19, Peter tells us not to be surprised at the many trials we encounter but instead to rejoice.
We cannot rejoice unless we have an anchor for our souls to keep us grounded and steady in the depth of the waves of our sufferings and trials. Jesus Christ is the anchor for our souls and the source of our only hope.
The book of 1 Peter calls us to rejoice in so far as we share in the sufferings of Christ. Praise God, as His child, you can live well in the hope of Christ. We cannot live well in this world without the encouragement of the Scriptures and the guidance and teaching from the Holy Spirit. As you work through this 1 Peter bible study you will see the great hope we have in Jesus christ and go on your way rejoicing. Until He returns!
