Absolutely Nothing Can Separate Us From the Love of God

April 17, 2020 · In: Devotions

Since God is for us absolutely nothing can separate or blocks us from the love of God. The cross of Christ is proof of His love for His own.

Can We be Separated from God?

Can anything or anyone separate those for whom Christ died from His love? Can anything here, between heaven and earth, separate us from the love of God?

It may Seem So Unless We are Walking by Faith

Romans 8:35 and 2 Corinthians 4:17, give descriptions of momentary light afflictions. Christians experience afflictions while here on this earth. This list of afflictions include

  • Tribulations,
  • Distress,
  • Persecution,
  • Famine,
  • Nakedness,
  • Peril,
  • and even the sword.

These are innocent sufferings. Sufferings that we do not bring upon ourselves. They are apart of our high calling as sharers in Christ. 1 Peter 2:21. And they are producing for us an eternal weight of glory. 2 Corinthians 4:17.

Christians can suffer at their own hand of

  • Ignorance,
  • Stupidity,
  • And personnel sins.

I do not believe that is what Paul is referring to in this passage of scripture. 2 Corinthians 6:3-10 and Hebrews 11:35-38 are excellent examples of innocent suffering, and I think it fits into what Paul is teaching.

We can conclude that Christians are going to suffer at the hands of many created things. However, are all of these things big enough, powerful enough, or deceptive enough to separate us from the love of God?

We Cannot Be Separated From the Love of God!

If God is for us, who or what can be against us? Notice in Romans 8:31, it says God is for us. This does not mean He is our cheerleader on the sidelines cheering us on and hoping for the best. He is our best! In Christ we are secure and sealed until the day of our redemption. We cannot be separated from the Love of God!

God Did Not Spare His Own Son

Look at the love of God from this perspective, “God did not spare Christ but delivered Him over for us all. Romans 8:32.

In the time, from birth to the cross, from agony to death, and the grave, nothing separated Christ from God’s love. In that period of time, God was fulling His purpose, for those whom He foreknew, predestined, called, justified, and will soon glorify. We are secure in Christ.

Believers are not condemned. God is working all things for our good to conform us into the image of Christ.

God’s love, His never-ending love, is evident from the cross. Romans 4:25.

He who was delivered over because of transgressions, and was raised because of justification.

Romans 4:25 and Romans 8:32, encompasses all that contributes to the perfecting of the believers salvation. We cannot escape from suffering but God supplies all we need to make it through secure in His love!

When we know trials and suffering come from and are filtered through the sovereign hand of God are we secure in His un-ending love?

More Bible Verses About Perseverance

Perseverance of the saints is the word used to summarize what the Bible teaches about the eternal security of the believer. We are secure and cannot be separated from God. Look up the following scripture references. Pray over them. Meditate on them. Ask God to give you wisdom and understanding. Then rest in the finished work of Christ!

How has your perspective on suffering changed from understanding God’s purpose behind it? How will you go forth and live to the glory of God?

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down but not destroyed; always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in the body. 2 Corinthians 4:7-10
