Do you have opinions? Me too. Opinions are views or judgments formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge. The bible, God’s holy word is not opinion it’s fact, unchanging, reliable, and solid. You can stake your life on the word of God but not on ever changing opinions.
Inductive bible study follows three crucial steps. It starts with observation, really looking at the whole text of a book of the bible moving through each chapter line by line. Observation moves us into interpretation, an understanding of what the text says. After diligent observation comes accurate interpretation and the final stage application. Without the first two steps you end up applying the Scriptures inaccurately resulting in personal opinions ending up like the man who built his house upon the sand. This sandy foundation cannot stand up against the noise and opinions of the world.
By slowing down and letting the text of God’s word speak for itself, you build on a solid foundation rooted in God’s unchanging life giving word. Studying this way you end up like the man who built his house upon the rock. When the noise and millions of opinions come you will not be moved.
It Teaches You to Hear God’s Voice More Clearly

When we want to hear God’s voice, the Bible is where we should look. Engaging the bible through inductive study trains our spiritual ears to discern God’s voice. We can hear above the noise and personnel opinions of the world. The Holy Spirit will bring to our memory the truths we observed and lead us into all truth.
Inductive study is not academic—it’s deeply relational.
I say inductive study is not academic but there is a level of study, education involved. But it does not stay there. There is a means to an end. We do not study the bible inductively or otherwise for pure academic knowledge. Knowing God is the end. We study to know God and what He requires of man. We study to build a relationship with our heavenly Father. Look at the following verses that teach this truth:
John 17:3 says this, “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
Romans 5:8-“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”
It Transforms How You Live and Love
Inductive study transforms how you live. When applied correctly there will be life change. Through the power of the Holy Spirit and your obedience it conforms you to God’s truth and teaches you how to love your neighbor as yourself and love God with your heart soul and mind.
