Christmas is my favorite holiday, followed very closely by Thanksgiving. Like everyone’s Thanksgiving, our thankfulness pulls up to the table with family and friends. The table is dressed with plates, forks, napkins, and of course, the turkey, dressing, and all of the fixings. The table’s dressing will look different for all of us depending on traditions and taste.
However, we have two things in common: the thankfulness that springs from our hearts and the food that fills and satisfies our bodies.
For the believer, our thankfulness, filling, and satisfaction find their place in Jesus Christ.
The conversations and the fullness of our hearts will echo our thankfulness for who He is and what He did for you and me on the cross of Calvary.
Thankfulness Sings with Joy to God.
Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16
Thankfulness comes from a heart changed by God. It is not a polite platitude with no meaning or feeling behind it. Anyone can say they are thankful, but the heart that sings with joy to God is truly thankful.
God Satisfies the Thirsty and Fills the Hungry!
Let them give thanks to the LORD for His lovingkindness, and for His wonders to the sons of men! For He has satisfied the thirsty soul, and the hungry soul He has filled with what is good. Psalm 107:8-9
When we recognize and understand the lovingkindness of God and the good He gives, we will be satisfied. The table of grace satisfies our thirsty souls and fills us with what is good.
John Piper says this about gratitude;
Gratitude is the joy that arises in response to God’s good will toward us in all his gifts.
What a joy to know God’s grace, gifts, and filling are forever. When joy is present gratitude, thankfulness, and praise to God overflow.

Enter His Gates With Thanksgiving
Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before Him with joyful singing.
Know that the Lord Himself is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving
And His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him, bless His name.
For the Lord is good;
His lovingkindness is everlasting
And His faithfulness to all generations.
Psalm 100:1-5
