Waiting With Eagerness, High Expectation, and Hope In God

April 9, 2020 · In: Spiritual Growth

Anytime there was an unexpected delay or detour that stopped or even slowed down something that the church planned or even individuals plans, my former pastor would always say, “divine delay.” Hope in God. In other words, God had a reason and a purpose for this delay. We may or may not know the reason or purpose but can always rest in the hope that it was good. Romans 8:28.

We Wait Eagerly With Hope in God

Romans 8:20-23, tells us that the creation groans and suffers along with the children of God waiting eagerly for redemption and adoption. We wait with groanings within but also with eagerness, high expectation, and hope. God tells us that His hope does not disappoint. Romans 5:5.
He who began the good work of salvation in us will carry it on to completion, with a sure hope and promise. Philippians 1:6, Romans 5: 2-5.

Living With Confidence and Hope in God

When Paul pinned this promise of God, he wrote it, and he lived it with great conviction and hope. While we wait, we have a choice. We can wait eagerly and joyfully, knowing God will, in His perfect timing, fulfill His promise of redemption. Or, we can wait consumed by our groanings.

Where do we put our hope? We cannot place our hope and faith in the things we see. Our hope is in what we do not see. “Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1

While we wait in God’s divine delay, we can rest in this truth. All of God’s promises are yes and amen in Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:20
