How to Be a Woman of True Wisdom and Knowledge

October 8, 2018 · In: Biblical Womanhood

There is no shortage of men and women who claim to have the secret to all wisdom and knowledge. They are claiming the market and taking the world, and the church, by storm. The wisdom and knowledge they possess looks like the real thing but is in appearance only. There is no substance. It is pretty, fluffy, and well dressed. It wears the latest fashion and appeals to the flesh. The word of God tells us there is a way that seems right to a man but its end is destruction. (Proverbs 14:12) Paul says it very well when he says these men and women are enemies to the cross of Christ. Their god is their own appetite, and their end is destruction. (Philippians 3:18-19) Praise God! For the true woman of God, there is hope! Today, we are going to look at how to be women of true wisdom and knowledge.

True Woman of God

Before we get into the hows of being a woman of true wisdom and knowledge you need to know self-help is not in the equation. To be a woman of godly wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, you must be a born again child of God. Otherwise obtaining wisdom and knowledge is only a wordly futile exercise. You may think yourself to be a Christian woman and are trying to obtain wisdom from the world. Or you may be unsure about your salvation. Here are several ways to be a woman of true wisdom and knowledge. These should also be useful in determining if you really are in Christ Jesus.

The Woman of God Places Her Hope in the Gospel of Truth

There was a time you were alienated from God, hostile in your mind, and engaged in evil deeds. ( Colossians 1:21) Not a pretty picture, I know; however it is true. Those who are trying to delude you with persuasive argument, judge you in the freedom who have in Christ, and try to defraud you of your prize, are alienated from God, hostile in their minds, and are engaged in evil deeds. Remember, Paul said they are enemies to the cross of Christ. If you are in Christ, they are your enemy as well. The woman who desires true wisdom and understanding, first, puts her hope and trust in the gospel of Jesus Christ. (Colossians 1:5)

The Woman of God Prays for True Wisdom and Knowledge

A woman who desires true godly wisdom and knowledge first goes to God in prayer. She knows her help comes from the Lord. He who made the heavens and the earth. She puts her trust in Him because she knows He will not let her foot slip nor will He sleep. (Psalm 121:1-3) There is a fear of God in her heart, and she knows when she goes to Him in prayer He will give her spiritual wisdom and understanding. (Colossians 1:9)

The Woman of God Listens to the Words of Christ

Paul declares in 1 Corinthians 2:16, “we have the mind of Christ.” What does that mean exactly? It means we have it in the word of God, the Bible, God’s sufficient word. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) Christ is the Word. (John 1:1) The woman of God goes to the word of God and listens intently to its instruction and guidance.

She does not listen to worldly wisdom, the wisdom of this age nor the rulers of this age. (1 Corinthians 1:6) She watches over her heart with diligence(Proverbs 4:23) and is selective with resources outside of the Bible.

The Woman of God Looks to Christ

The woman of God inclines her heart to understand and cries for discernment. She seeks and searches for them like a hidden treasure. ( Proverbs 2:1-4) She knows ALL the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Christ Jesus. (Colossians 2:3) They are safe and secure in Him. Untainted, pure, and without hypocrisy. Her confidence is in Christ who sits at the right hand of the Father who lives to make intercession for her. ( Colossians 3:1 and Hebrews 7:25)

Her mind is set on things above. She is not concerned about the things of this world. (Colossians 3:2) She smiles at the future knowing her life is hidden in Christ Jesus. (Proverbs 31:25 and Colossians 3:3)

The Woman of God Makes Christ Her Life

The woman of God considers the members of her earthly body as dead to the deeds of the flesh and puts them away.  She puts on the new self, knowing she is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created her. (Colossians 3:10) Whatever she does in word or deed is for the glory of God. She knows she is not perfect but rests in the One who is! She knows her position in Christ and desires to become more Christ-like with each passing minute.
