Earthly Teachers Are Limited in What They Can Give
But there is one thing as a teacher I nor any other teacher can give you.
- The wisdom,
- The knowledge,
- The understanding that only comes from the HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD!
If you are a believer in Christ Jesus He has given you the Holy Spirit as your teacher. Earthly teachers are very valuable and there are many good ones. We can look at our Bible for the greatest teachers that ever lived, we have Paul, Peter, John, Matthew, Luke… and the list goes on.
Earthly teachers are limited in what they can do. They give tools and pass on the wisdom and knowledge that they have learned from the Holy Spirit. But that is all they are doing passing it on to you. As a teacher, and a student of God’s word, I have to completely rely on the Holy Spirit to guide me into the truth of the word.
As a student, you must rely on Him for your wisdom and knowledge of the Scriptures a well.
Today, my task is to pass along to you 6 Bible Verses that teach us about our Teacher the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit Our Teacher!
John 14:26~ “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.”
In this verse, we learn that the Holy Spirit will teach us all things. He will not teach us new revelation. The Old and New Testaments are written and the Canon is closed. There is no more revelation to be revealed that has not already been inspired by the Holy Spirit. But He will teach us all things that pertain to life and godliness: 2 Peter 1:3.
John 16:13~ “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever he hear, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.”
John 14:16-17~” I will ask the Father and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and in you.”
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. He abides in and with the true believer, speaks what He hears from God, and will not lead you into darkness but into the light.
1 John 2:20~”but you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know.”
1 John 2:27~” As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it is taught you, you abide in Him.”
At Regeneration or the New Birth, the Holy Spirit of God is poured into our hearts so we know the truth. We no longer have need for anyone to teach us. This verse is not teaching that earthly teachers are no longer needed. We can study Titus and Timothy to see this. God calls men to teach and preach the word. But like I mentioned earlier they are giving you information. The Holy Spirit living in you opens your heart to hear the truth. John
John MacArthur puts it this way, ” the believer has a built-in lie detector and a preserver of truth.”
Be in The Word
I am going to leave you with one last thought. In 1 John 2:27 instructs us to abide in Him. In other words, it is our task to walk in the truth. Be in the word of God studying and praying. If you are in Him and He is in you, He will guide you into all truth.
Are you regularly in your word seeking the truth? Or are you spending all your time searching the internet for wisdom and knowledge? Rely on the Holy Spirit that is in you to guide and direct you.
